Welcome to Algebra 1.This is a college preparatory
course that fulfills 1 year of the high school mathematics
graduation requirement as well as the UC a-g requirements.
Topics include polynomial addition, subtraction, and
multiplication, factoring polynomials, polynomial long
division, solving fractional equations, negative exponents,
graphs and analysis of linear and quadratic functions,
solving and graphing systems of linear equations and
inequalities, solving radical equations, solving and
graphing quadratic equations. SAT preparation will be
included and related to course curriculum, and students
will be expected to engage in problem solving activities
and in-depth analysis. Fulfills Algebra graduation requirement.

Classroom/Homework
- Classwork/Homework is given every day. Some classwork will be due
before the class is over. Otherwise classwork assignments may be
finished at home.
- Late work is not accepted.
- Notebooks are collected at least twice per week.
- Notes should be taken in pencil in a wireless composition book.
- Each checked assignment is worth up to 10 points, unless stated otherwise.

Scale: Perfect=10 pts. Average=7 pts. Passable=4 pts.
Tests
- Tests and quizzes are given every Friday to measure student understanding of this subject.
- Make-up tests will be given on Mondays during class or Fridays after school for students who have an excused absence.
Extra Credit/Projects
- Extra credit and projects may be given in class from time to time.
These can boost your grade by as much as 5%. Extra credit work is not
guaranteed to be given by the instructor.
