Welcome to Algebra 1A. This course fulfills 1 year of the high school
mathematics graduation requirement and is equivalent to half
of the Algebra 1 course requirement, which is also needed for graduation from high school.
Successful completion of Algebra 1A and 1B completes the full Algebra 1
requirement. Topics include signed numbers, variables, linear equations,
exponents, monomials, simplifying polynomials and factoring polynomials.

Classroom/Homework
- Classwork/Homework is given every day. Some classwork will be due
before the class is over. Otherwise classwork assignments may be
finished at home.
- Late work is not accepted.
- Notebooks are collected at least twice per week.
- Notes should be taken in pencil in a wireless composition book.
- Each checked assignment is worth up to 10 points, unless stated otherwise.

Scale: Perfect=10 pts. Average=7 pts. Passable=4 pts.
Tests
- Tests and quizzes are given every Friday to measure student understanding of this subject.
- Make-up tests will be given on Mondays during class or Fridays after school for students who have an excused absence.
Extra Credit/Projects
- Extra credit and projects may be given in class from time to time.
These can boost your grade by as much as 5%. Extra credit work is not
guaranteed to be given by the instructor.
