Welcome to Pre Algebra. This course is for students with solid computational
skills and number sense. Students are introduced to new concepts and use them
in problem solving situations. The main focus will be a transition from
arithmetic operations to equation and variable manipulation. Students will
develop reasoning skills and the vocabulary of mathematics in alignment with
the California Mathematics Content Standards. Success is enhanced by good
reading comprehension and study skills. Upon successful completion of this
course, students will be recommended for Algebra 1A.

Classroom/Homework
- Classwork/Homework is given every day. Some classwork will be due
before the class is over. Otherwise classwork assignments may be
finished at home.
- Late work is not accepted.
- Notebooks are collected at least twice per week.
- Notes should be taken in pencil in a wireless composition book.
- Each checked assignment is worth up to 10 points, unless stated otherwise.

Scale: Perfect=10 pts. Average=7 pts. Passable=4 pts.
Tests
- Tests and quizzes are given every Friday to measure student understanding of this subject.
- Make-up tests will be given on Mondays during class or Fridays after school for students who have an excused absence.
Extra Credit/Projects
- Extra credit and projects may be given in class from time to time.
These can boost your grade by as much as 5%. Extra credit work is not
guaranteed to be given by the instructor.
